In the aftermath of October 7, RSNS organized a volunteer mission to Israel. What began as a journey of service quickly grew into something much deeper—an opportunity to stand with, work alongside, and connect personally to the people of Israel in their moment of greatest need. Along the way, we encountered extraordinary organizations doing vital, hands-on work to rebuild lives, strengthen communities, and sustain hope. The following are some of the partners we met and learned from, each offering meaningful ways to support Israel today.

Pantry Packers

Pantry Packers is the largest organization in Israel addressing food justice. They collect and distribute essential food supplies to families in need, ensuring equitable access to nutrition across the country. Donations can be made via pantrypackers.org. Lagaat BaSade

Lagaat BaSade (“Touching the Field”) is a community-driven agricultural initiative near the Gaza border that transforms the challenges of living in a conflict zone into opportunities for resilience and connection. Volunteers engage in organic farming, harvests, and sustainable agriculture, fostering community support and therapeutic experiences for those affected by regional tensions. Adi Negev

Founded by General (res) Doron Almog, Adi Negev provides care for individuals with severe developmental and brain-related challenges. The facility serves both permanent residents and daily attendees, offering comprehensive medical and therapeutic services. Donations can be made via adi-il.org. Ra’anana Pa’amonim / Kfar Saba Community Garden

This community garden project creates meaningful engagement for volunteers while supporting vulnerable populations. Since October 7, the initiative has provided houseplants and resources to Israelis displaced by conflict. It fosters connection, purpose, and community care. Alma Institute

The Alma Institute is a think tank focused on Israel’s northern border security challenges. Led by Col. (res) Sarit Zehavi, Alma develops research, strategic analysis, and policy recommendations to enhance Israel’s national security. More information is available at israel-alma.org.

Sunrise Israel Camp

Sunrise Israel Camp provides summer camp experiences for children with cancer and their siblings, along with year-round support in hospitals. The program combines recreation, therapy, and community support to improve quality of life for children facing serious illnesses. Donations can be made via sunriseassociation.org/sunrise-israel. Ma’arag – Kfar Vradim

Ma’arag is a workplace for adults with developmental, emotional, and mental health challenges, located in the Upper Galilee. Participants engage in meaningful work while contributing to the community. Support is encouraged through purchasing items from their shop. Website: maarag.org. Kibbutz Nir Oz / American Friends of Nir Oz

AFNO supports the rebuilding of Kibbutz Nir Oz, which was severely impacted during the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks. Nearly a quarter of residents were killed or taken hostage, and 80% of infrastructure was destroyed. AFNO provides financial and logistical support to help survivors rebuild homes and community life, promoting resilience and hope. Donations: afniroz.org.

Remembering Ilay / Ilay Nachman Foundation

Remembering Ilay honors Ilay Nachman, a 23-year-old Israeli killed during the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack. Founded by his close friend, the initiative shares his story, celebrating his values of kindness, empathy, joy, and connection. Through personal stories, images, and commemorative merchandise, it preserves his legacy and inspires others to live with courage and compassion. Instagram: @remembering_ilay.

Beit Tefila Yisraeli

Beit Tefila Yisraeli, located in Tel Aviv, is a vibrant independent Jewish community blending traditional rituals with contemporary Israeli culture. Founded in 2004, it seeks to sustain a meaningful Israeli Judaism relevant to 21st-century life, offering Shabbat and holiday services, lifecycle events, and opportunities to explore Jewish-Israeli identity. Hostage Forum / Israeli Protest Movement

The Hostage Forum supports families of hostages held in Gaza, advocating for their release and providing assistance to returned captives. The organization also supports broader civil engagement efforts within Israel. Donations: bringthemhomenow.net.

WeAreMENA

WeAreMENA cultivates a transnational network of young leaders across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Its mission is to foster mutual understanding, regional cooperation, and peacebuilding through educational exchanges, leadership development, and collaborative projects. The initiative connects changemakers aged 20–35, promoting cross-cultural dialogue and empowering participants to address regional challenges. Website: wearemena.org.
