Update from the Security Committee

Over the past six years, RSNS has successfully secured $375,000 in federal and state grant funding to enhance the safety and security of our building—both inside and out.

These improvements include:

  • Replacing aging windows and doors
  • Installing fragmentation retention film on windows and doors
  • Adding outdoor security cameras
  • Placing protective bollards around the building perimeter
  • Providing emergency keypad access for staff, police, and fire departments

As we complete our most recent grant, we are especially proud to highlight several important projects: the installation of new bullet-resistant security doors in the hallways leading to our classrooms, the replacement of the retaining wall along Plandome Road, and the rebuilding of the Sanctuary’s outer brick wall. These improvements provide an additional layer of protection for our Gan Shalom and Synagogue School children, as well as the dedicated staff who care for them.

With the High Holidays approaching, RSNS will have additional security guards stationed inside and outside the building, along with a police presence in our parking lot. We are grateful for our strong partnership with the Nassau County Police Department, whose increased vigilance during this season is both expected and deeply appreciated.

Please be assured that security remains one of our top priorities at RSNS, ensuring that our community can gather in safety and peace.

Wishing you and your family a sweet, healthy, and peaceful New Year.
