1001 Plandome Road How We BelongOur synagogue was founded in the late 1950s by a group of families looking to form a committed and caring community based on the tenets of Judaism and social justice. The congregation has grown slowly but steadily through the years. We belong enthusiastically, with the understanding that the synagogue community thrives and is enriched by the participation of its membership. At the core of our synagogue is the challenge of living in two worlds, the modern age, nearing the twenty-first century and the age-old traditions of our Judaism.Through the numerous activities, committees and functions of our synagogue, members are able to find a compatible arena in which to participate and add their experience and talent to the community. Some of these activities include the Education Committee, Mutual Support Network, Ritual Committee, Fundraising Committee, Choir, Special Events and Social Action. Our membership is diverse in age, profession, interest, background and Jewish education. What we welcome most is curiosity and a willingness to become involved in the life of our community.
